Skincare Products I Live By

My skincare routine is literally made up of 2 products; African black soap & Shea Butter. Those two ingredients have not let me down for the past 3 years. This is not to say it will work for everyone, but for me it has been a success.

Here are some benefits of African Black Soap:

The fewer chemicals that are found in skincare products, the better!

African Black Soap is packed with natural ingredients including Vitamin E, meaning it shouldn’t irritate the skin and will keep it feeling moisturised. Black Soap is famous for its amazing healing properties and is used to relieve the symptoms of various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. - Kokoa Uk (black owned blog & business)

If you find your shop bought black soap making your skin dry, itchy and having a burnin sensation, it is a FAKE.

Helps with:

Benefits of Shea Butter:

Shea butter is fat that’s extracted from the nuts of the shea tree. It’s solid at warm temperatures and has an off-white or ivory color. Shea trees are native to West Africa, and most shea butter still comes from that region.

  • It’s perfect for all skin types because it doesn’t contain any chemical irritants known to dry out the skin for instance

  • It’s moisturising as you apply it to your skin the oils will absorb into your skin helping hold moisture in

  • It’s anti inflammatory so when applied to the skin, the biology behind it is that it triggers cytokines and other inflammatory cells to slow their production

  • It is antioxidant thanks to the high levels of Vitamin A&E

  • And finally it helps boost the production of collagen. There are some sciencey named chemicals in the products that deactivate collagen fiber destruction

It might work better for others pairing these products and differently for others. My skin is sensitive to harsh makeup products in general, so this routine works very well for me to compensate for my plain Jane looks.
