Yes, nobody asked for it but here I am sharing with y’all anyways x.
For some, their hair is like their baby, me I don’t have much hair as you know, so my nails are my babies.
So for the most of 2019 I was getting acrylic nails left, right, centre. Even without a special occasion you’d find me at the nail shop getting my nails did.
Over time though, my natural nail bed became so weak that my nails were breaking, peeling, not growing. I mean, growing up I always used to bite my nails but at one point in high school I started growing my nails. And they grow nicely. So I wanted to start a natural nail journey again. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but YOLO. Acrylics were making a dent in my bank account every month and it just became an unnecessary bill.
So me and my best friend Caroline vowed never to get acrylics again November 2019 (though she went and got her nails done afterwards💀) anyways...
So since November 2019 I haven’t had acrylics or any hardcore work done to my nails and it has been a rewarding 10 month journey.
For my nails to look healthy like this, I began to moisture my nail bed and cuticles with olive and black seed oil. On top of that, I would wash dishes wearing gloves, washing dishes really affects the nails because of the chemicals in the washing liquid & the changes in temperature of water. I would treat and paint my nails every 5 days at one point, now I try every week.
I use a Vitamin C nail base and top coat, I noticed that this keeps my nails moisturised because the nail polish is often harsh on the nail. And don’t forget to file your nails! Not too hard or harshly, just file them nice enough then moisturise them and colour them as you wish.
That is the secret😌 I just thought of sharing this because a lady the other day commented and said “your acrylics are very nice” to me it was such a sweet compliment. I’ve come a long way LOL.
